Unique lab opal engagement ring inlaid with blue lab created opal on each side of a blue topaz set in sterling silver. The lab opal in this engagement ring has a medium blue body with flashes of bright blue and light green. The ring's center gemstone is a princess cut blue topaz weighing .75 carats held securely in the mounting by 4 corner prongs. The Paraiba blue topaz is enhanced with a special coating to achieve the unique blue color. The ring (style CS028) measures 7.5mm wide at the top and tapers to 4.5mm at the bottom. This blue topaz and lab opal ring would make a unique and affordable alternative to a traditional diamond engagement ring. The laboratory created opal in this ring has essentially the same optical, physical and chemical properties as natural opal. The primary difference is natural opal contains water and laboratory grown opal has no water content. The water is replaced with resin which actually makes the synthetic opal stronger and less prone to cracking and breakage than natural opal. Lab created opal is a great option to get the fire and colors of top Australian opal at an affordable price.
