The lab opal in this engagement ring flashes orange, green, red and blue and is mesmerizing to watch the colors shift as you move the ring. The ring's center gemstone is a princess cut orange topaz weighing .75 carats held securely in the mounting by 4 corner prongs. The Swarovski Poppy Passion topaz is enhanced with a special coating to achieve the unique orange color. Thermal Color Fusion (TCF™) applies an innovative process to white topaz that produces the glowing orange color. This special heat treatment – patented in Austria and patent pending in the United States – is stable and permanent. The process results in a hard ceramic layer on the topaz. The ring (style CS028) measures 7.5mm wide at the top and tapers to 4.5mm at the bottom. This topaz and lab opal ring would make a unique and affordable alternative to a traditional diamond engagement ring. The laboratory created opal in this ring has essentially the same optical, physical and chemical properties as natural opal. The primary difference is natural opal contains water and laboratory grown opal has no water content. The water is replaced with resin which actually makes the synthetic opal stronger and less prone to cracking and breakage than natural opal. Lab created opal is a great option to get the fire and colors of top Australian opal at an affordable price.
